Victor Hugo was once quoted as saying “ An invasion of armies can be resisted, but not an idea whose time has come”
We’ve all heard about solar panels for your home and maybe some of you have had those door to door salespeople talk to you about it - or maybe 3 or 4 salespeople have…
In recent years the US government has passed something called the Inflation Reduction Act which, if you’re not aware of it, provides for government grants to pay for solar panels on your home. The reason or logic behind this is the fact that the US Energy Grid is not getting any younger. In fact in reality it wasn’t conceived or designed to handle the increase in electric cars plugging into the grid we see today.
If you check the fine print on your electric bill you’ll see that the cost to get that energy to you is a big part of the equation. Local solar energy is more efficient than building a new power plant which takes years and costs taxpayers billions.
I want to suggest to you that if you own a business - even if you don’t own the building - you may want to consider commercial solar for your business. The return on your investment is highly favorable and there are huge tax benefits and an array of other government programs to make it almost a No Brainer. One such program is the REAP Grant from the USDA for businesses outside those urban areas. When combined with the Inflation Reduction Act grants, you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy a decision this is to make. While there are no free lunches this can be one of the easiest ways to improve your business cash flow long term.
The application of commercial solar for business is a significantly larger market nationwide than residential and presents a simpler solution (i.e. trees, access, permitting, roof shapes etc). Your Power Grid will thank you. Please reach out with any questions you may have. We’re here to help. Andrew Bruneau
